It's winter time, unless you live in the southern hemisphere, then it certainly is not. Rumor has it the toilets flush backwards down there, so what does it really matter anyways?
Moving on, this week's beer brings with it a winter theme: Wasatch Brewery's Last One Down Lager. The official beer of Ski Utah, this American lager is the perfect cap to a cool day on the slopes--especially if you're enjoying it in Wasatch's Park City, Utah, brewpub.
If you find a beer in the woods, should you drink it? Probably not (but I just might).
Pouring a light yellow, it's immediately clear why this is advertised as a crushable lager--because it is. Capped by those pesky Utah laws at 5% ABV, it drinks insanely easy (and I mean that in the best way): light, clean, sweet, and with just a hint of hops, this beer goes down super smooth and is definitely better enjoyed in the colder months. Any of you that read this know I turn my nose up at the slightest hint of that classic hoppiness flavor, but this beer actually kills it.
Who pours a beer in the snow?
Likely around for a limited time, you can find the Last One Down Lager at any of Wasatch's locations within Salt Lake City. I would say at local Utah retailers and grocery stores, but I'm not sure that's quite allowed yet. Either way, try this amazing and easy-drinking lager if you have the chance, and be sure to hit up Wasatch and/or its sister brewery Squatter's if you're in the Salt Lake area. Final score: 9.5/10 shifty's that result in ski patrol having me airlifted off the mountain.
The real question: do I actually ski, or did I just google "list of ski tricks?" My t-ball record is a good indicator of my overall athleticism.
Park City plug since I was visiting for Sundance when I tried this beer.
